First of all, when planning the logistics component of the export agreement, attention should be paid to the legal regulation of international transportation. This is important even if the exporter plans to use the services of forwarding companies.

It is desirable to study the transport conventions under which the exported goods fall, at the stage of preparation of the foreign trade agreement, some of their provisions may affect both the transport process and the terms of delivery and decision-making and the need for additional cargo insurance.
The main international conventions governing the international carriage of goods:

1. Convention on the Contract for the International Carriage of Goods by Road;


2. Protocol to the Convention on the Contract for the International Carriage of Goods by Road

cargoes;


3. Additional Protocol to the Convention on the Contract of International Carriage

electronic consignment note (e-CMR)

(Geneva, 20 February 2008);


4. Instruction on the procedure for registration of an international consignment note

CMR;


5. International Convention on Safe Containers;


6. UN Convention on International Mixed Freight;


7. Agreement on the International Carriage of Perishable Foodstuffs and on

special vehicles designed for these transports;


8. European Agreement concerning the Work of Crews of Vehicles Manufacturing

international road transport;


9. Agreement on International Rail Freight Services (SMGS);


10. Convention concerning International Carriage by Rail (COTIF) 1980;


11. Convention on International Civil Aviation
